Commentary

In 2 Chronicles 34, we read about the reign of King Josiah of Judah. Josiah was only eight years old when he began to reign, and he was known for his righteousness and devotion to God. He was determined to restore the worship of God in the land of Judah, and he set about to do so with great zeal. Josiah began by repairing the temple of the Lord and removing all the idols and other objects of worship that had been set up in it. He then commanded the Levites to teach the people the Law of the Lord. He also commanded that all the idols and other objects of worship be destroyed. Josiah then sent out a proclamation throughout the land of Judah, calling the people to a great Passover celebration. He also commanded that all the people of Judah observe the Passover and keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The people of Judah responded to Josiah's call and gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. During the celebration, the Book of the Law of the Lord was found in the temple. When Josiah heard the words of the Law, he was greatly moved and humbled himself before the Lord. He then made a covenant with the Lord to obey all the commands of the Lord. Josiah's reforms were a great success, and the people of Judah were devoted to the Lord. This chapter serves as a reminder of the importance of obedience to God's commands and of the power of repentance and renewal.
